Cal Kestis is now a Jedi Knight, which means he comes packed with even more powerful skills than before. In this guide, you’ll learn how to unlock every single lightsaber stance in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
Unlike the previous game, Jedi: Fallen Order (2019), in which Cal Kestis was a mere padawan that could only swap between single and double-saber combat styles, Jedi: Survivor allows the player to choose between five different stances. These lightsaber stances come with their own strengths and weaknesses. What’s more, you can equip two at a time and swap on the fly.

However, in order to equip a different stance to one of the two different quick slots, you will need to visit a Meditation Point.
Single Blade Stance
Learned by: Default
The Single Blade Lightsaber Stance is Cal’s base form, offering a balanced and flexible combat experience. It is learned by default, and you start off with it right from the beginning of your adventure in Jedi: Survivor.
Using the Single Blade Lightstaber Stance, Cal attacks with a single blade of medium length using one-handed and two-handed attacks. You can deflect blaster fire and throw your saber from mid-range.
This stance is good for all-around offense and defense, with fairly quick attacks. It doesn’t quite excel at damage output in comparison to others, but the relatively short animations protect you from most enemies you encounter.

The Skill Tree for the Single Blade Lightsaber Stance features the following abilities.

Dual Wield Stance
Learned by: Default
Although dual-wielding lightsabers were a brief special ability that could be used in Jedi: Fallen Order, it has now become an aggressive, powerful stance in Jedi: Survivor.
The Dual Wield Lightsaber Stance has a higher barrier to entry when it comes to getting the most advantage out of it, and you will take more damage if you’re not on your guard.
Still, Dual Wield lets Cal attack very fast, and you can quickly dodge or guard in the middle of an attack animation, unlike many other stances, to pivot right into defense.
Skills
The Skill Tree for the Dual Wield Lightsaber Stance features the following abilities.
Skill | Cost | Ability feature |
Backstep Slash | 1 Skill Point | Attack and leap backwards, creating distance from the target. |
Uncoiled Strikes | 2 Skill Points | Perform a flurry of quick, targeted swings. |

Focused Parry | 1 Skill Point | Perform a spinning strike. |

Serpent’s Bite | 1 Skill Point | Execute a strong final overhead swing. |

Dancing Blades | 3 Skill Points | Throw both lightsabers that bounce between multiple targets. |
Double-Bladed Stance
Learned by: Default
The Double Bladed Lightstaber Stance was a main combat style in the previous game and works similarly in Jedi: Survivor.
It’s debatably the best, most reliable stance for dealing with large groups of enemies. In particular, it works well against small creatures and B1 Battle Droids.
Using the Double Bladed Lightsaber Stance, you can easily hit multiple targets that surround you, both at short distance range and up close.
The only issue with using this stance regularly is that it takes time for your attacks to wind up and allow you to finish a combo which makes Cal unable to guard or dodge in the middle of an animation.
Skills
The Skill Tree for the Double-Bladed Lightsaber Stance features the following abilities.
Skill | Cost | Ability feature |
Gathering Tempest | 1 Skill Point | Deal fast strikes toward a single enemy. |
Vortex Dive | 1 Skill Point | Dive forward while spinning the lightsaber. |
Double Orbit | 1 Skill Point | Perform a second lightsaber throw around Cal. |
Endless Hurricane | 1 Skill Point | Add additional attacks to the end of the double-bladed attack chain. |
Repulsing Burst | 2 Skill Points | Slam down while airborne, dealing damage in an area. |
Rising Storm | 2 Skill Points | Perform an attack that pulls enemies in a small area and takes Cal into the air. |
Multifold Reflections | 2 Skill Points | Reflect blaster shots back toward nearby targets. |
Controlled Throw | 2 Skill Points | Throw the lightsaber and maintain its position, then move it around. |
Blaster Stance
Learned by: During the main mission, “Jedha – Rendezvous with Cere’s Contact.”
The Blaster Stance is all-new to the series, particularly for a Jedi. It allows Cal to dual-wield a blaster in one hand and a lightsaber in the other to take on threats at range and up close with ease.
Your blaster has a finite amount of energy to fire shots that can be replenished through meleeing enemies with the lightsaber. It comes with its own appearance customization, just like your saber when visiting workbenches.
This stance gives you the best protection in the game from most enemies, especially large bosses such as Rancors, as you can easily swoop in for a few jabs, then jump back out and continue firing away for massive damage.
Skills
The Skill Tree for the Blaster Lightsaber Stance features the following abilities.
Skill | Cost | Ability feature |
Flying Lunge | 1 Skill Point | Close the distance to your enemy with a leaping thrust. |
Blaster Cooldown | 1 Skill Point | Gain additional ammunition each time you strike an enemy with the lightsaber. |
Improved Clip | 1 Skill Point | Increase maximum blaster ammunition by three. |
Energizing Flurry | 3 Skill Points | Perform a sequence of quick swings that rapidly replenish ammunition if they connect. |
Efficient Heat Transfer | 2 Skill Points | Reduces time required to fully charge a blaster shot. |
Point Blank | 1 Skill Point | Act just before an enemy hits to blast them away. |
Quick Draw | 3 Skill Points | Focus and target multiple enemies at once with the blaster. |
Crossguard Stance
Learned by: During the main mission, “Shattered Moon – Research Tanalorr.”
Inspired by Kylo Ren from the Sequel Trilogy, the Crossguard Lightsaber Stance has Cal using a heavy laser sword with a cross-guard hilt. While it deals the most damage out of all other stances in the game on contact, the swing and animations are the slowest.
You can wipe out enemies with fewer strikes using Crossguard Lightstaber Stance, but you need to properly adjust your spacing between various enemies in order to time your attacks. Doing so will make you slightly less vulnerable than you already are using this slow, methodical combat style.
Even though it’s rather sluggish, the Crossguard Lightsaber Stance pairs well with faster stances in order to compensate for its reduced speed.
Skills
The Skill Tree for the Crossguard Lightsaber Stance features the following abilities.
Skill | Cost | Ability feature |
Rending Strike | 1 Skill Point | Perform a single, high-damage swing with a long windup. |
Impact | 2 Skill Points | While airborne, slam into the ground, causing a shockwave. |
Greater Impact | 1 Skill Point | Increased shockwave range. |
Greater Cleaving Swing | 1 Skill Point | Reduces focus attack charge-up time. |
Reaching Cleave | 1 Skill Point | Increases range of Cleaving Swing. |
Sundering Swipe | 2 Skill Points | Perform a wide, sweeping lightsaber attack. |
Charged Reflection | 1 Skill Point | Act right before a bolt makes contact to send back a charged bolt that hits the target and nearby enemies. |
Rolling Thunder | 2 Skill Points | Throw the lightsaber in a line through multiple targets. |
