With the Indigo Mask DLC, part 2 of the major paid content update for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet is known as The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, players can literally become a Pokémon.
The idea of taking on such a role was first introduced in the Mystery Dungeon sub-series of games, and fairly early on in The Indigo Disk, players can track down a character named Synclaire. She sits within the Terarium and will teach you how to use a Synchro Machine.
This device allows you to “pilot” your Pokémon, running around the map controlling them, and using them to auto-battle. It’s just there to remove the need to resummon them after they get out of range when following you.
This feature also works in multiplayer and makes for some incredible shenanigans. It’s completely unnecessary but is a very fun new feature. Players have taken to social media to discuss all the wild experiments they’ve been having with it.
Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are role-playing games developed by Game Freak and released in 2022 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
