Honeycomb is an item in Minecraft that cannot be crafted. Instead, you get Honeycomb from bee nests and beehives. It is one of the most common crafting materials in the game, and this guide will walk you through how to get Honeycomb as well as how to use it.
Survival Mode
1. Craft Shears
Shears are tools that allow you to extract Honeycomb from bee nests. To get a pair of shears, you will need to craft them using the following recipe:
The crafting recipe for shears requires 2x Iron Ingot.
If your pair of shears is damaged, you can combine 2x Damaged Shears to receive a fresh pair with 5% increased durability.
2. Find a Bee Nest
Next, you need to locate a bee nest filled with honey, then acquire the Honeycomb from it.
Bee nests commonly spawn in the biomes of the Plains, Flower Forest, and Sunflower Plains. You will find them hanging from oak trees and birch trees.
3. Use Your Shears
Select the shears in the hotbar to place them in your hands. Approach a bee nest to find bees raising its honey level by delivering pollen.

To use the shears, stand near and target the bee nest. Then:
- Hold down left click (PC/Mac, Windows 10 Edition, Education Edition).
- Target the bee nest, then tap and hold on the screen (Pocket Edition).
- Press and hold RT (Xbox One).
- Press and hold R2 (PlayStation 4).
- Press and hold ZR (Nintendo Switch).
You will loot 3x Honeycomb from the bee nest. Pick them up before they disappear. This will anger the bees, and one of them will come out to attack you.
Keep them in your inventory for later use.
Creative Mode
To access Honeycomb in Minecraft’s Creative Mode, simply visit the correct location on the Creative Menu, which differs by platform. They are as follows:
