Set in the late 19th century, about 100 years before the events of the books, Hogwarts Legacy begins your journey as a fifth-year student, allowing you the freedom to learn all the vast spells, incantations, enchantments, potion-making, herbology, and broom-flying found in the Wizarding World.
The plot has you uncovering a mystery behind your character’s connection to powerful ancient magic, getting into entanglements with a gang of dark wizards led by Victor Rookwood and goblin revolutionary Ranrok.
Even with all the major touchpoints, including the ability to roam every single corridor of Hogwarts and cast all three Unforgivable curses, many other features, such as Quidditch and general multiplayer, have not been added to the game.
Hogwarts Legacy sets a majestic foundation for what could eventually evolve to be a Harry Potter MMORPG of fans’ dreams, but for now, we’ll have to wait.
As of February 10, 2023, Hogwarts Legacy is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X / S. It is planned to be released on PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on April 4, 2023, and Nintendo Switch on July 25, 2023.
