Halo Infinite Getting Campaign Co-Op, Forge In Winter Update

halo infinite

The upcoming winter update to Halo Infinite will give us online campaign co-op, Forge (beta), and other multiplayer features. This update is due to release on November 8, 2022.

Campaign co-op will allow players to progress through the main story as a full party. Joining a session places the group at the checkpoint of the player most behind.

Each of the various collectibles is obtainable for players that have not received it yet. During the setup, players can choose skulls from a selection that has been unlocked by every player. Furthermore, players can replay missions and return to unlock skulls and various audio logs they did not grab before.

The beta for Forge lets players host as many as 7,000 objects on a single map, up from the cap of 1,600 in Halo 5: Guardians. Objects can be scaled to be larger or smaller than they currently are. For the very first time, Forge will support the inclusion and use of bots.

343 Industries is also introducing players to a visual scripting language that allows the manipulation of small variables. Up to fix new backgrounds for maps will be available at launch, with more coming over time.

Even though Forge is releasing in a beta phase, all of the projects that the player community saves will carry over into future updates.

Multiplayer is receiving two new official maps created exclusively with Forge. One of them is set within a Forerunner structure known as Argyle.

The other is set in a UNSC base called Detachment which features the first teleporter in Halo Infinite.

Halo Infinite is also introducing a brand new mode called Covert One-Flag. This has a single team attacking a flag with unlimited active camouflage, while the defending team has unlimited threat sensors.

There is a new match XP system that provides a base amount of experience to players for simply playing matches and then additional rewards for winning and performance.

As 343 continues to focus on live-service content, the company’s plans for post-launch have made shifts. Players can no longer expect to receive split-screen multiplayer for the campaign.
