Half-Life 3 Rumors Surface After G-Man Voice Actor’s X Post

Half-Life 3 rumors and speculation are once again in overdrive after G-Man’s voice actor teases that some sort of news will surface in 2025.

Mike Shapiro posted a fully narrated video in character as G-Man on X at the end of 2024 in which he teased “unexpected surprises” for the year, including the tags #Valve, #Halflife, #GMan, and #2025.

“Another year already,” Shapiro said in the post. “Good to see and hear from some many of you. May the next quarter century deliver as many unexpected surprises, hmm, as did the millennium’s first. Then again time is fluid like music. See you in the new year!”

Although this is quite vague, fans have not seen Shapiro post a non-reply since he congratulated Valve on the success of Half-Life: Alyx, a VR-exclusive game, back in 2020.

Half-Life 2 recently turned 20, and there is yet to be an announcement on Half-Life 3 from Valve in spite of the story ending on a cliffhanger way back in 2007 with Episode 2.

During the making-of documentary for Half-Life: Alyx in 2020, a swathe of games has been developed and shelved by Valve between the release of Half-Life 2: Episode 2 and the company’s latest VR game. This list included details on a version of Half-Life 3 that was in the works for about a year.

According to The Final Hours of Half-Life: Alyx, industry veteran and awards host Geoff Keighley revealed that there have been at least 5 Half-Life games canceled during the years between the release of Episode 2 and Alyx, in addition to numerous other projects, the most notable of which was referred to internally at Valve as Half-Life 3.

To mark the 20th anniversary of Half-Life 2, Valve opened up about its development in a never-before-seen work-in-progress footage featuring an Ice Gun and loads of new concept art.
