Arion Kurtaj, a member of the hacker group Lapsus$, managed to leak gameplay footage for Grand Theft Auto VI using nothing but an Amazon Fire TV Stick and a hotel room. He managed this while already on bail for allegedly hacking into NVIDIA.
Kurtaj, 18, announced his presence as an “attacker” on Rockstar Games’s internal Slack channel. He was not allowed internet access while on bail for his other indictment, but he managed to circumvent the roadblock using a Fire TV Stick, keyboard, and smartphone that he newly purchased from a hotel right outside Oxford in the UK.

Additional information regarding the attack went public following a trial lasting seven weeks in which he was found guilty of hacking Uber, Revolut, and Rockstar. Although a 17-year-old was also convicted, that individual is still on bail.
The hacker organization known as Lapsus$ is primarily composed of teenagers from the UK and Brazil. Kurtaj and the unnamed 17-year-old are two of the seven individuals who were arrested in the UK.
Between the years 2021 and 2022, Lapsus$ was also discovered hacking Microsoft, Samsung, and T-Mobile. Their motives appear to vary from one attack to another, but they are primarily centered on amusement and financial gain achieved through blackmail.
So far, no company has come out to publicly admit they paid the hackers. Therefore, it remains unknown just how much Lapsus$ accumulated from its cybercrimes.
