How to Swap Characters in GTA 5

You can switch characters in GTA 5 to get the opportunity to play the game with each of the protagonist’s perspectives. Given below are the controls for all the platforms that you can refer to change characters in the game.

PC

To change character while playing on PC:

  • Press and hold the Alt button on your keyboard to open the character menu, this will appear at the bottom-right of your screen.
  • Now, use the mouse or the arrow key on the keyboard to select the desired character.
  • Once you have selected the character you want, you can release the Alt key.

PlayStation

To change character while playing on PlayStation:

  • Press and hold the D-pad to bring up the character wheel menu.
  • Now you can use the Right analog stick to highlight and choose your desired character.
  • Once done, you can release the D-pad.

Xbox

To change character while playing on Xbox:

  • Press and hold down the D-pad button to choose the character wheel menu.
  • Now use the right analog stick to choose between the characters.
  • Now you have highlighted the desired character you want, release the D-pad button.

Switch Characters in GTA Online

While playing GTA Online, you are allowed to create and use two different characters in the game. However, switching between them isn’t as easy as it is in single-player mode.

Here you cannot switch to different characters instantly, you need to exit the session and then pick the desired character. Follow the below-given instructions to do so.

  • Pause the game and head to the menu.
  • Now navigate to the Online tab.
  • Further from the list, click on Swap Character.
  • Now click on OK to confirm the quit session message.
  • Next, select the character you desire using the arrow keys.
  • Once done, click on Confirm.
