Gotham Knights, a new brawler game set in the DC Universe of Batman by WB Games Montreal, will receive a four-player cooperative multiplayer mode near the end of November, weeks after its release on October 21.

This co-op mode is known as Heroic Assault and is a free update to Gotham Knights. It is similar to other multiplayer DLCs seen in popular franchises like Call of Duty: Warzone in that it will be completely separate from the main campaign.

Per a FAQ on the official Gotham Knights website, the mode supports up to four players online, providing “a dedicated arena-like environment with specific objectives to complete and enemies to defeat on each floor.” At launch, the developer confirmed there will be up to 30 floors for players to complete.

The mode allows players another way to enjoy the experience by one another’s side, as the campaign only allows for two people to play together. Heroic Assault lets each player control one of the four playable heroes in the game (Robin, Batgirl, Red Hood, and Nightwing) to fight crime as a full team.

Some of the major enemies from the Batman series that players will fight in Gotham Knights were revealed in a recent story trailer, which includes familiar faces like Mr. Freeze, Harley Quinn, Clayface, and the Court of Owls.

The minimum PC requirements were provided by WB Games Montreal ahead of launch. An additional trailer shows off just how amazing the game will feel on higher settings.

Even though fans of the Batman: Arkham series will feel right at home when playing Gotham Knights, as it is made by the studio that brought us Origins, the third entry, this game’s narrative is in its own universe. Unlike the other Batman games created by Rocksteady, WB Games Montreal is delivering its own take on Gotham, which allows the team significantly more creative freedom.

Gotham Knights is an action RPG created by WB Games Montreal. Its release date is October 21, 2022, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
