Toho has revealed the official title and trailer for its next Godzilla film. Set to premiere first in Japan on November 3, the new kaiju flick featuring the King of the Monsters is called Godzilla Minus One. After its debut in Japan, it is set to arrive in U.S. theaters on December 1.
The trailer for Godzilla Minus One shows off the titular anti-hero rampaging through post-war Japan.
A brief glimpse at the monster’s figure in the cover art and in the trailer hints that his appearance will fall more in line with the Millenium Era (1999-2004) design than his more recent Reiwa Era (2016-present) design.
This film is written and directed by Takashi Yamazaki, a creator known for his previous work on the visual effects for Shin Godzilla (2016), the most recent Toho film in the franchise up until this point.
Toho was the first film production company to make Godzilla movies, has the most created on record of any other studio to this day, and is still considered the best.
