Due to his past backstory as a prodigy wizard, Gale has to consume magical items, weapons, and artifacts to survive. As a player, you have a choice as to feeding him. This guide will answer whether or not you should give Gale artifacts while playing Baldur’s Gate 3.

What Happens If You Give Gale Artifacts – BG3

You should consider giving Gale artifacts in Baldur’s Gate 3 if you want to have him in your party as a companion. Continuously giving Gale magical items, weapons, and artifacts when you see an (!) Exclamation Mark increases his approval. Always agree to the quality of items he asks for. If you don’t, you will lose approval.

To progress with Gale’s questline during Act 1, you must provide him with three magical items.

What Happens If You Don’t Give Gale Artifacts – BG3

If you don’t want to sacrifice your unneeded magical artifacts, weapons, or items to Gale, you have the option to refuse. What happens if you don’t give Gale artifacts is he will attempt to make a deal with the Devil. What’s more, he will dislike you for not complying with his request.

You will have an option to kill Gale if you refuse to give him artifacts. After killing him, Gale will return as a spectral magical projection requesting you revive him within two days.

What Artifacts To Give Gale – BG3

To see if an item in your inventory is eligible to give Gale artifacts, check for an Exclamation mark next to the name. It will also include a brief description that says “Gale can absorb this item’s magic, destroying it.” What’s more, when you choose to donate to Gale items, the game will automatically display the available items.

Here are several examples of magical artifacts and items you can provide to Gale:

  • Idol of Silvanus
  • Iron Flask
  • The Necromancy of Thay
  • The Staff of Crones
  • Uncommon Clothing

You can give Gale artifacts that are of Uncommon rarity and not blessed by a deity.
