It’s no argument that eSports has seen an incredible surge over the past 5-7 years, thanks to the efforts of popular streamers. With hundreds of thousands of dollars in prize money and hordes of fans across the globe watching live and at home, it’s become as thrilling as ever. Today, Fortnite has been officially confirmed as an Olympic sport.
The year 2023 marks the inauguration of the Olympic Esports Series, culminating with a finals tournament in June taking place in Singapore. As part of a new challenge issued by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF), the inclusion of Fortnite brings the total of games and sports in the series up to 10.
The Fortnite competition will involve up to 12 of the best players hailing from the Fortnite Champion Series on a special Island in the game designed to reflect the competition.
Although the Fortnite competition is invitational, you can purchase tickets right now for the Olympic Esports Week.
