During the later portion of the annual 14-hour Final Fantasy XIV live stream, Square Enix unveiled the coming of a new Corgi minion for Patch 6.3. This stream celebrates the 9th anniversary of the popular online roleplaying game and also includes the announcement of the 6.25 release date.

Minions are similar to pets in World of Warcraft in that they are cosmetic animals that follow their owners around.

Game director Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P) also brought up the potential for a Kingdom Hearts collaboration, as Final Fantasy XIV has seen with other big JRPG franchises like NieR and Monster Hunter. It would be quite challenging, and he does not currently know if it is possible.

During the final segment, Final Fantasy series creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, a dedicated player, requested Kappa costumes. The developers will be looking into this interest.

Final Fantasy XIV continues to thrive as one of the most successful MMORPGs in history, passing 27 million registered users and recently announced dates for a massive Data Center expansion in North America. The latest expansion, Endwalker, was released just last year and was a big hit.

There have also been a number of fan festivals announced in the United States, Japan, and the United Kingdom.
