miHoYo gained international fame for the 2020 release of the hit open-world gacha RPG known as Genshin Impact, but the successful Chinese developer has been making quality games for quite some time. Prior to this blockbuster, miHoYo released another title: Honkai Impact 3rd.
Honkai Impact 3rd is a free-to-play 3D action RPG released in 2016. The game is noted for its incorporation of multiple genres, from hack and slash combat to social simulation, along with various elements of dungeon crawling, shoot ’em up, bullet hell, and platforming across both single-player and multiplayer modes.
Gameplay
In the game, the player will control a team of up to three Valkyries in action-oriented combat against different enemies. See here for a list of all playable characters.
During battle sequences, the players move their characters freely around an enclosed area and can switch between characters in real-time. Each of the Valkyries has unique attacks, switches, evasion, type, and ultimate skills.
The three types, which include Psychic, Mech, and Biologic, are based on a Pokémon-inspired rock/paper/scissors system in which there are advantages and disadvantages in comparison with enemies.
Is Honkai Impact 3rd on PC?
Originally a mobile-exclusive title, the game was eventually ported to PC in late 2019, with the ability for players to link their accounts across all devices for cross-save compatibility. In addition, players can now link their once unique in-game account to their HoYoverse account for universal login.
Is Honkai Impact 3 the same as Genshin Impact?
Although Honkai Impact 3rd does not feature a vast, open-world like Genshin Impact, both games feature gacha mechanics and character banners. The art style is also comparable, given the anime-like design. What’s more, both offer scheduled in-game events throughout the year.
Which is better, Honkai Impact 3rd or Genshin Impact?
This depends entirely on the preferences of the gamer. If you don’t mind the lack of an open-world and want fast-paced, straightforward battles that lead into each other sequentially, Honkai Impact 3rd is the better game.
However, if you want substantially more content, an open-world to explore, have more time to invest, and more of a variety of activities to enjoy, then Genshin Impact is miHoYo’s best game yet.
Honkai Impact 3rd features a science fiction setting and Genshin Impact features a more fantasy-based setting. While both include enough lore for the average story geek to enjoy, Genshin Impact handles its premise and story with better care.
Is Honkai harder than Genshin?
The combat of Genshin Impact is surprisingly slower-paced than Honkai Impact 3rd, but the two games match in virtually all other levels. Furthermore, Genshin Impact’s controls only require keybinds to activate abilities based on various elements, whereas Honkai Impact 3rd has more complexity in its combat system due to combos.
