That nasty, buggy client known as Origin, EA’s answer to Steam, is now finally getting a replacement application. The new software, known simply as the ‘EA App,’ is the lightest and fastest program, according to the company.
In a recent blog post, EA stated that extensive beta testing allowed the studio to develop a more streamlined user experience to play games from its library.
Using the EA App, you can even play games in the middle of ongoing background updates and automatic downloads, similar to Battle.net, which Blizzard owns.
Those with large Origin libraries will be happy to know that all your local and cloud saves from the first platform will easily transfer to the new application. Currently, the software is not compatible with macOS, so those users will continue to use Origin for now.
EA Origin made its debut way back in June 2011, and although it served a purpose as the company’s hub for digital distribution, it lost its ground to the far more popular Steam and Epic Games Store marketplaces.
Fortunately, for those who still want nothing to do with EA’s client whatsoever, even with a facelift or not, you can buy almost all of the company’s games through Steam. You can also stream the rest with the Xbox Game Pass.
