Dragon Age: The Veilguard, formerly known as Dreadwolf, is officially releasing on October 31 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. In a blog post from BioWare, the game continues the story 10 years after the events of the preceding title, Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Story and Setting
Fans will be taken back to the wondrous world of Thedas. Although not many story details were revealed, we know that Solas has some evil plans brewing. He was introduced as a companion character during Inquisition and makes a very strong impression. He is likely going to be the main antagonist.
The official description of Solas reads: “Solas, the Dread Wolf. Some say he might be an ancient elven god, but some say not. Others say a betrayer of his people…or a savior who now seeks to rescue them at the cost of your world. His motives are inscrutable and his methods sometimes questionable, earning him a reputation as something of a trickster deity – a player of dark and dangerous games.”
In Dragon Age: Inquisition, Solas is the elven mage party member who joins your team early on to help prevent the emergence of dangerous magical rifts caused by the evil mage Corypheus. However, it turns out that Solas was the elven Dread Wolf the whole time and was playing the long game, looking for a way to break the veil between magic and reality on his own terms, not Corypheus’.
Solas is desperately trying to open the Veil, a portal that’ll bring demons spilling through it if he succeeds. Varric, Rook, Lace Harding and Neve Gallus are the characters confirmed so far.
The story will have players traveling to new locales including Rivain, Weisshaupt, Arlathan, Minrathous, and the Deep Roads.

The Dragon Age series of games are considered some of the greatest in the history of the Western fantasy roleplaying genre.
Part of the reason for the decade-long development cycle is due to the amount of dialogue in The Veilguard.

Combat is in real-time, with an ability wheel that lets players unleash special abilities. The action can be stopped to select skills that party members will choose, which offers a more tactical option.
