In this guide, you will learn how to decorate and upgrade your house while playing Disney Dreamlight Valley.
Your house is situated near the center of the Dreamlight Valley and is a place where you can store items, regain energy, collect mail, and create your slice of paradise.
It starts off in poor shape when you first receive it from Merlin, and you will need to complete several missions before you can upgrade it to something you’re proud of.
How to Decorate Your House in Disney Dreamlight Valley
With furniture items in your inventory, you can easily freshen the look of your house. To use these items, open the Furniture tab in the inventory and select the items to place in the room or redecorate with.
How to Collect Furniture Items in Disney Dreamlight Valley
During the game’s first missions, you will be able to collect some basic items by clearing the ground, opening chests, and through any welcome items.
In addition, furniture items can be collected from many places while exploring through learning item recipes and earning quest rewards. You can also learn item recipes and craft them to get new items.
Finally, you can purchase new furniture items from Scrooge McDuck’s store and order simple items by speaking to him.
How to Place and Remove Furniture in Disney Dreamlight Valley
To remove furniture, visit the Furniture tab and minimize the item selection menu such that you can select items to interact with in the world. This is how you pick something to either edit its placement or delete it.
Your house begins with many broken and dirty furnishings, which you will likely delete. Conversely, as you place an item, you can navigate the camera around the space you are putting it in. These two navigational controls can get out of sync, but will not affect the item itself. To make it easier to move items, try controlling them one at a time.
You can also clear out all the furnishings in a room by holding down the corresponding input, allowing you to decorate with a clean slate.
How to Upgrade Your House in Disney Dreamlight Valley
To upgrade your house, you need to complete the quest entitled Dreamlight Valley Economy 101, which is given to you by Scrooge McDuck after completing the grand re-opening of his store.
Complete the Dreamlight Valley Economy 101 quest
The quest’s goal is to inject money into the local economy, and you can sell precious gemstones to Goofy at his stand to achieve this.
- Mine for gems at mineral deposits, which look like dark pointy rocks in gaps in the valley’s walls.
- Not every mineral deposit contains precious stones; however, the ones with shining points jutting out do.
Once the stones have been sold to Goofy, Scrooge McDuck will require you to invest the coins earned in upgrading the rooms in your house.
How to Increase Room Size
Scrooge McDuck will install a special elevator in your home, which lets you invest in your property and access upgrades for the rooms to eventually install new rooms and floors.
- Go to the house, enter the elevator, and spend the coins on increasing the size of your main room.
- The first increase costs 1000 coins, and the second costs 2000.
After the second room size upgrade, you can see that other rooms connecting to the entry room are available; however, you need to upgrade the house several times to add more rooms.
How to Renovate the House Exterior
Once you tell Scrooge McDuck you have followed his advice, you can begin to renovate the exterior of the house. You can do this three times in total. Each time, you will increase the storage of the large chest inside your house, up to a maximum of 48 slots.
- A sign outside the house will appear when Scrooge can upgrade the property.
- Interact with the sign and pay 2,000 coins to renovate the exterior.
The next upgrade will cost 20,000 coins and allow you to add rooms in line with the rooms visible in the room upgrade view, along with new floors. The final external upgrade for your home costs 75,000 Star coins and will remove the Scrooge McDuck sign.
Each upgrade increases the storage of the large chest inside your house, up to a maximum of 48 slots.
