To get Mulan and Mushu, players will need to complete a series of quests, similar to Oswald, the Lucky Rabbit.

How to Get Mulan and Mushu in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Players will first need to unlock the Mulan Realm for 15,000 Dreamlight. This special in-game currency can be earned by completing Dreamlight Duties. Here is a list of all five quests you need to finish to bring the young warrior and guardian to the village.

  • A New Recruit
  • The Dragon Army
  • A Defender’s Training
  • Clearing the Road
  • Protecting the Camp

How to Complete the ‘A New Recruit’ quest

A New Recruit is the first quest to unlock Mushu and Mulan in the game. To start this quest, go into the Mulan Realm through the Dream Castle. In the training camp, talk to Mushu. He’ll ask you to clean up the camp because you were late for training.

For that, you will need to break eight rocks, remove 12 spilled rice bowls, and flip over the cauldron. Use the Royal Pickaxe and Shovel to do this.

After cleaning the camp, you need to wear your training uniform to look like a recruit. The uniform pieces are scattered around the camp. Players can find the pants and shoes outside the camp area, and the shirt and socks inside.

Once you find all the clothes, give the complete Training Uniform to Mushu. He’ll ask you to put it on. Next, you need to cook Mushu’s Congee for Mulan’s breakfast and ring the golden bell to wake her up. Here’s the recipe to make this five-star dish:

  • Egg
  • Wheat
  • Mushroom
  • Ginger
  • Garlic

How to Complete the ‘The Dragon Army’ quest

In Mushu’s next quest, The Dragon Army, he wants to build a defense system for the training camp in Mulan’s Realm. To start it, talk to Mushu and suggest placing dragon statues around the camp to scare enemies.

Mushu likes the idea and asks you to craft the dragon statues. You will need the following materials to build them:

  • Camp Mud x 50
  • Buckets of Water x 3
  • Firewood x 10
  • Red Spider Lilies x 10
  • Chrysanthemums x 5
  • Dream Shards x 10

After gathering all the materials, go to the Crafting Station located in the camp and make Unfired Dragon Statues. When they are ready, put them inside the Kiln. After that, Mushu will ask the player to complete their training with Mulan, starting a whole new quest called The Defender’s Training. To complete The Dragon Army quest, you need to complete the training first.

How to Complete ‘The Defender’s Training’ quest

In this quest, Mulan will give you special defender training. To initiate it, players will need to talk to Mulan. She will ask you to do three exercises to improve your endurance, precision, and strength. They can be completed in any order.

For Orienteering, speak to Mulan, and she will give you Training Weights to wear. Put on the weights and enter the Training Maze. Once there, you will have to find 8 shiny pebbles scattered randomly on the ground. After collecting the pebbles, search for the Circular Weights hidden under the tree leaves. Once you have everything, go back to Mulan and give her the pebbles to complete the Orienteering exercise.

For Fishing for Precision, where you will need to catch 10 Salmon in Mulan’s Realm. Use your fishing pole and look for golden bubbles in the water bodies outside the camp. During fishing, fans might catch a Snorkel as well. After catching the required fish, go back to Mulan, who will ask the player to put the salmon in the cauldron. This will complete this task.

For Brick Breaking, you will have to smash 8 bricks in the camp area. Use the Royal Pickaxe to do the job. One of the bricks will give you a special Fan. Lastly, return to Mulan to complete this task.

Now that you have completed all three training exercises, give the Circular Weights, Snorkel, and Fan to Mulan to end The Defender’s Training quest. Meanwhile, the dragon statues should also be ready. Go to Mushu to complete The Dragon Army quest as well.

How to Complete the ‘Clearing The Road’ quest

After players complete The Dragon Army quest, they will see a cutscene showing a landslide outside the training camp. This starts the Clearing the Road quest. It’s Mushu’s last quest that you have to finish to unlock him, but it’s linked to Mulan’s last quest, Protecting the Camp.

Talk to Mulan and Mushu at the entrance bridge and complete some tasks from the Protecting the Camp quest (explained below). Then, players should return to Mushu and convince the little dragon to join the Dreamlight Valley along with Mulan. To do that, help him build four fences in the landslide area to save it from future disasters. For crafting a fence, you need to gather 25 Wooden Logs.

After building the fences, go back to Mushu. He will ask the player to place these fences at the base of the mountain. Mushu, now excited, wants to send a signal to announce that the cargo is ready to be shipped, so follow him to the bridge for that purpose.

To proceed further, you need to progress in the Protecting the Camp quest and build a house for Mushu and Mulan in Dreamlight Valley. Once the house is built, go back to Mushu and invite him to join the valley. Before moving to the valley, Mushu will give you a Dragon Statue as a reminder of your friendship.

Mulan has also left a chest for you, so find its lost key near carts outside the camp. Inside the chest, you’ll find the Defender’s Sword. With this, Mushu will be unlocked in Dreamlight Valley.

How to Complete the ‘Protecting the Camp’ quest

In Mulan’s last quest, you will have to help her clean up the landslide area and remove the debris. Here’s what players need to do:

  • Use the shovel to remove sand piles
  • Smash 8 rocks with the pickaxe
  • Find 10 broken logs

Once the area is clean, go back to Mulan. She’ll give you tree seeds and ask you to plant them, so plant the seeds and water them using the watering can.

To protect the camp from potential flood damage, Mulan wants you to make 20 Sandbags. Here are the materials that you will need:

  • 15 Fiber
  • 40 Brown Sand

Make the Sandbags and go back to Mulan, and she will show you where to place them. After setting them up, talk to the brave lady and build her a house in any biome in the valley by paying Scrooge McDuck 20,000 Star Coins. Once everything is set, Mulan will join you and other adorable characters in Dreamlight Valley.
