Bungie and NetEase have announced a Destiny mobile game entitled Destiny Rising. It is said to be a sci-fi RPG that takes place in an “alternate timeline” of the Destiny universe, featuring what NetEase described as “best-in-class” shooting action on mobile.
This game boasts a “brand-new adventure with familiar and new characters”, as well as “an abundance of classic and brand-new modes.” Fans can pre-register for the closed alpha test that starts in November. Below is the announcement trailer, with in-depth developer previews further down this post.
News of a Destiny mobile game being made by Bungie and NetEase leaked back in September, following the news that dropped in 2018 stating that NetEase would give Bungie $100 million to make games that are not related to Destiny. However, this arrangement may have changed, as Destiny Rising is indeed a Destiny game, or there may be more in the works between the two companies.
Outside of Destiny Rising, Bungie has confirmed work on a new entry in the Marathon franchise and several other projects. In 2024, Bungie went through massive corporate restructuring, including layoffs that affected many senior staffers.
