Destiny 2 – How to Get Microcosm

destiny 2 how to get microcosm

In this guide, you will learn how to get Microcosm while playing Destiny 2.

Microcosm is an Exotic Heavy Trace Rifle featured in The Final Shape expansion for Destiny 2. It can break enemy shields and synergize with your Super, regardless of which Super is equipped.

Players will receive Microcosm from the final quest in the Convalescence questline, entitled “Convalescence: Budding.” Here are the requirements necessary:

  1. Complete The Final Shape campaign.
  2. Complete “Destined Heroes” step “Queens, part 1”
  3. Complete “Convalescence: Rootbound”
  4. Complete “Convalescence: Underbrush”
  5. Complete “Convalescence: Greenery”
  6. Complete “Convalescence: Budding”

Microcosm is unlocked after completing Micah-10’s final Convalescence quest: Budding. But to get to that point, you will need to finish The Final Shape’s campaign and complete the Destined Heroes quest up until you finish the Queen Part I adventure.

After this adventure, you will speak to Micah-10 and begin the questline. The first three Convalescence quests can be done by following the objective markers and then finding the lost Ghost. The fourth quest requires additional steps.

How to Complete Convalescence: Budding

You need to complete three story missions from The Pale Heart map menu on Cooperative Focus difficulty–a much more difficult version of the story with unique mechanics you can’t do alone. The 3 story missions include Ascent, Dissent, and Iconoclasm.

Join up with a friend or someone random via the Fireteam Finder, as this quest requires 2 Guardians. Enemies hit harder, will take longer to kill, and the Fractured by the Witness debuff will need to be passed between allies because 10 stacks will kill you. Spread the debuff every 7 or 8 stacks, and have your other Guardian take it off you. If there are three of you in the mission, you’ll need to pass it around to all three as there is a cooldown to when the same Guardian can pick it up again.

The Fireteam will also need to shoot two Darkness orbs simultaneously to drop the shields off of enemies and communicate which symbols need collecting when Glyphtouched. Communication over voice chat is ideal. Once you have completed these missions, return to Micah-10 to receive the Microcosm.

Destiny 2 is a first-person shooter developed by Bungie and initially released in 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
