Vestiges of Light and Darkness are two new consumable types found in Destiny 2: The Final Shape and are a currency necessary to unlock Prismatic Fragments.
Memory Vestiges are consumables that are needed to forge Memories of Light or Darkness. These are then used to locate certain Prismatic Fragment chests within the Pale Heart. Five Prismatic Fragments are locked behind Memory Vestiges.
There are two types of Memory Vestiges:
- Memory Vestige: Darkness – Found in corrupted chests within the Pale Heart.
- Memory Vestige: Light – Defeat enemies within cyst caves, which are unlockable by completing Micah-10’s “Alone in the Dark” quest chain.
How to Get Vestiges of Light in Destiny 2
You will acquire Vestiges of Light by defeating enemies within cyst dungeons in the Pale Heart destination. You will earn 5-7 Vestiges of Light from each cyst dungeon, which lets you create one Memory of Light with a couple of vestiges to spare.
Cyst dungeons are unlocked by completing the “Alone in the Dark” quests from Micah-10 in the Lost City. If you do not have access to this quest, you will need to finish the “Memories” series of quests first, which are available after completing The Final Shape campaign.
How to Get Vestiges of Darkness in Destiny 2
Vestiges of Darkness are rewards for cleansing corrupted chests in the Pale Heart while out on Patrol. Watch for pyramid chests covered in Darkness brambles. By interacting with the chest, you will start a timed challenge that must be completed in 90 seconds. If you fail, you’ll simply restart the challenge.
Memories of Light and Darkness
Collect five of the same vestige type (either Light or Darkness) to automatically forge a memory. This is the same type as the vestiges used.
There are five memories in the Pale Heart, 2 Dark and 3 Light. Each memory marks a Prismatic chest on the map. Open the chest to unlock a new Prismatic Fragment. You’ll only be able to consume a memory once. If you open the same chest again, you will only get Ghost reputation.
