Destiny 2 is a multiplayer first-person shooter developed by Bungie that came out in 2017. Since then, the developers have pushed out multiple expansions and DLCs to extend the main storyline and add more content than what was seen on launch day.

Here is a detailed list of expansions for Destiny 2 in order. Curse of Osiris and Warmind are included, although they are minor in scope (considered DLC) when compared to the remainder of the actual expansions on the list.

Note that certain content listed is currently inaccessible due to ongoing changes to the game.

Curse of Osiris

Expansion Number: 1

Curse of Osiris is the first expansion to Destiny 2. The story follows the Guardians being called to Mercury to investigate a new Vex threat tied to the legendary Warlock Osiris.

The Vex are using the Infinite Forest, a vast simulation engine, to find a way to dominate time itself. With the help of Osiris’ ghost, Sagira, players navigate the simulation, battle endless Vex constructs, and uncover a plan that could rewrite reality.

Warmind

Expansion Number: 2

Warmind is the second expansion to Destiny 2. The story sees the Guardians travel to Mars to investigate a mysterious new threat arising from the Warmind Rasputin, a powerful AI designed to protect humanity. The Guardian uncovers that Rasputin has been reactivated, and its defense systems are being corrupted by the Hive, led by the powerful Worm God Xol.

The Guardians must work alongside Ana Bray, a Guardian with ties to Rasputin, to defeat Xol and prevent the Hive from using Rasputin’s power to wipe out humanity. In the end, the Warmind is stabilized, and the Hive’s influence over Rasputin is broken, securing Mars for humanity’s defense once more.

Forsaken

Forsaken is the third expansion to Destiny 2. It sees the Guardian set out on a quest for vengeance after Uldren Sov, the Prince of the Awoken, kills beloved character Cayde-6.

The story takes players to the lawless region of the Tangled Shore in the Reef, where they must hunt down Uldren and his Barons, who are wreaking havoc across the system.

As the Guardian tracks down each Baron and uncovers dark secrets, they learn of a greater threat tied to the Awoken’s history.

Shadowkeep is the fourth expansion to Destiny 2. The story has the Guardian return to the Moon to confront a rising darkness as Eris Morn, who had been lost for years, resurfaces with disturbing news. She reveals that the Hive’s influence is spreading beneath the surface, and a new threat, the Pyramid ships, is awakening.

As the Guardian fights through the Hive’s forces and uncovers ancient secrets, they must stop the Hive from unleashing a terrible new power tied to the dark forces lurking beneath the Moon.

Beyond Light is the fifth expansion to Destiny 2. The story sees the Guardian travels to Europa, where the Fallen House of Darkness is attempting to harness the power of the Darkness itself. Led by Eramis, the Fallen Ketch leader, they seek to use Stasis, a new and dangerous form of Darkness, to conquer humanity.

The Guardian allies with the Exo Stranger, who has returned after many years, to stop Eramis and prevent the Fallen from mastering Stasis.

The Witch Queen

The Witch Queen is the sixth expansion to Destiny 2. The story sees the Guardian faces off against Savathûn, the Witch Queen, and her Hive forces, who have gained the power of the Light.

After the discovery of Savathûn’s involvement in the creation of the Darkness’ influence on the Hive, the Guardian ventures into Savathûn’s Throne World, a realm filled with deception and dangerous secrets. Alongside the mysterious figure of Osiris, the Guardian uncovers the truth about Savathûn’s origins and her connection to the Light.

Lightfall is the seventh expansion to Destiny 2. The story sees the Guardian confronting the growing threat of the Witness and their enigmatic disciple, Nezarec, as the final battle for the fate of the Last City begins. The story takes the Guardian to Neptune, where the mysterious city of Neomuna is hidden, and where the forces of the Witness plan to use the city’s technology to bring about a new era of Darkness.

With the help of new allies, including the Cloudstriders, the Guardian learns to harness the power of Strand, a new form of Darkness, to challenge the forces of the Witness. The expansion culminates in a battle to prevent the Witness from completing their destructive plans, setting the stage for the ultimate showdown in the war between Light and Darkness.
