As if the footage of the Depp-Heard trial were not enough entertainment, the story now has a film adaptation.
Actors Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, once a married couple, have now been battling in court for the past few years. However, the story heated up with a climactic trial that began in Virginia.
Cameras all over the courtroom were live, capturing every single moment of the case, available for the world to watch on every public platform. People from every corner of the internet were streaming the footage, passing their own judgments on the tumultuous relationship between the two famous performers.
The new film, entitled Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial, stars Megan Davis and Mark Hapka as the title stars. Initially, the trailer shows off exactly how these public figures would be embodied by the two actors. It is currently available to stream on Tubi.
Despite the inevitable backlash, Hapka and Davis knew what they were getting into.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actors understood that the perception of who was in the right versus the wrong was polarizing prior to Depp claiming the victory. However, they see the opportunity as nothing more than just doing their jobs.
Even with the verdict in favor of Depp, an actor best known for his role as the eccentric ‘Captain Jack Sparrow’ in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, the legal teams on both sides have been appealing the outcome. Depending on how well the film reception of Hot Take goes, there may be room for a potential sequel.
