Under the direction of Witcher 3 developer CD Projekt Red, a new web anime series based in the Cyberpunk universe called Edgerunners was released this month on Netflix. Studio Trigger, known for 2013’s Kill la Kill, was responsible for the animation.
With just ten episodes, the series tells a survival story of a street kid living in a futuristic city in a culture obsessed with body modification and technology. This popular show has proven that Anime is the greatest adaptation for anything gaming related.
The high scores and multiple accolades the show has garnered in a very short time since its release is outstanding. It boasts one of the best audience retention metrics for any show in the history of Netflix.
In fact, the series is so successful that it has recently made the player base of Cyberpunk 2077 skyrocket by as much as 400%.
Data from SteamDB proves that the number of active players of Cyberpunk 2077 was right below 25,000 on September 15. Over the past few days, the game has seen a massive increase peaking at as much as 85,555 concurrent users on September 18.
Cyberpunk 2077 is a 2020 open-world action RPG that had an extremely rough launch, despite being a project ten years in the making. A public apology was issued to the gaming community in response to the overwhelming problems.
However, in the past year or so, developer CD Projekt Red has taken every measure to polish, refine, and fix all the bugs the game shipped with. It’s yet another redemption story in the industry similar to other big releases like No Man’s Sky.
The game is currently available on all major platforms, including PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. We highly recommend checking it out on Windows 11. If you still need to update your OS, check out this fast and easy tutorial.
