Here’s everything included in the massive 2.0 update for Cyberpunk 2077, the open-world sci-fi action RPG from CD Projekt Red. It is designed to address progression issues and character development and adds tons of new features to combat.
Update 2.0 offers new content, but also major overhauls to nearly every gameplay system. It arrives on September 21, 2023.
Redesigned Cyberware, Perks, Skills, and Relic abilities
The skill and perks system is being revamped for Update 2.0. The revisions will require all characters with significant time invested into the game to respec, so it may be worth considering starting over fresh. Furthermore, the revamped system includes new abilities, with returning ones looking even more fun.
There will be an additional progression system called Skills, that is separate from perks. Instead of putting points into Skills like you do with perks, players can upgrade Skills by using the corresponding playstyle. In accordance with an article published in PC Gamer, there are five Skill categories, with players earning stat increases and extra perk points by leveling:
- Engineer
- Headhunter
- Netrunner
- Shinobi
- Solo
Cyberware is being overhauled as well. Players will no longer be limited by a maximum number of slots per area but will have a total capacity threshold. The Relic ability tree that allows players to perform the most devastating and powerful abilities is also receiving a major update.
AI and Vehicle Combat Changes, Revamped Police
With so many playstyles and new abilities, combat is going to feel different. Changes are being made to all elements of the combat system.
Vehicle combat allows players to hack and shoot while driving. If you perform a vehicular crime, you will be chased down by police just like in GTA using an updated bounty system.
New Quests, Weapons, and Vehicles
The 2.0 Update for Cyberpunk 2077 not only offers quality of life improvements, but also substantial amounts of new content. In particular:
- New quests and gigs
- New District
- New Cyberware
- New apparel
Clothes will become purely cosmetic, with armor added using Cyberware.
