The popular game mode Zombies makes a return in Call of Duty: Vanguard, the 2021 entry in the long-running franchise. This guide will explain how to complete the Shi No Numa easter egg challenge.
Easter eggs are hidden achievements in Call of Duty, primarily featured in the Zombies mode created by developer Treyarch. Many of these challenges can be done alone, while others require cooperative multiplayer to succeed.
Zombies in Vanguard takes place across four maps. These include:
- Der Anfang
- Shi No Numa
- Terra Maledicta
- The Archon
Shi No Numa was originally part of Der Anfang. However, during Season 4, Treyarch made Shi No Numa its own round-based map.
Collect three cypher wheel parts, solve the puzzle
- Navigate to the Dig Site through either the Storage or Comm Room.
- Collect the various parts of the Cypher Wheel. These look like glowing circular objects on various tables. They can be found at the following locations:
- Dig Site: In front of the Pack-A-Punch machine.
- Dormitory: Near the bunk bed.
- Doctor’s Quarters: Near the Max Ammo Box.
- A symbol will need to be entered for each wheel when you reach the Monolith. Unfortunately, the symbols change with each match. They can be found in the following locations:
- Excavation Room: On a table.
- Comm Room: On the radio desk.
- Dig Site: On the crafting table.
Locate the monolith
- Navigate to the Doctor’s Quarters Exterior and kill the Boom-Schreier in front of the Monolith. This will remove the vine barrier.
- Place the Cypher pieces on the Monolith. Enter the symbol for each wheel. This is accomplished by rotating the discs to align the symbols from the
Building the Wunderwaffe DG-2 Wonder Weapon
The Wunderwaffe DG-2 Wonder Weapon is sitting on a workbench under the label ‘Storage.’ However, you’ll need to collect several pieces to activate and use the weapon.
Instead of waiting until round 10 to have a chance to receive it from the Mystery Box, it’s much easier to build it while completing the quest steps.
- Inside the Flogger Courtyard, open the Fishing Hut with 1,000 Essence. Acquire the Weapon Barrel sitting on the shelf to the right of the door.
- Navigate to the Comm Room Exterior and insert the Weapon Barrel into the generator.
- Go into the Comm Room and check the radio.
- Return to the generator, complete the round, then finish the objective for Defend the Radio Tower.
- Retrieve the Weapon Barrel inside the generator.
- Return to the Comm Room and acquire the Charged Vacuum Tube.
- Enter the adjacent area inside the Comm Room to find a table. Acquire the Electrical Fuse.
- Go to the Storage Hut and activate the trap for 1000 Essence. Wait for it to malfunction before inserting the Electrical Fuse. Allow Zombies to walk through the trap until it charges up.
- Keep fighting Zombies until Round 15. Zabala will eventually spawn in the Main Hut area. Kite her to the Excavation Room containing the Tesla Machine. Allow her attacks to hit you and power up the massive coil until you receive the prompt to acquire the Charged Vacuum Tube.
- Return to the Storage Hut and use the workbench next to the trap to craft your Wunderwaffe DG-2 Wonder Weapon.
Start the ceremony
After inputting the code into the monolith, various small stone pillars will glow red. The total number of pillars that will appear is equal to the number of players in the party.
If you’re riding solo, there will only be one, or two for duo, etc. Every player needs to activate their respective pillar simultaneously to start the lockdown ceremony.
Your party will then be attacked by a wave of zombies. Several zombies will be covered in a blue haze, and these need to be shot with the Wunderwaffe DG-2 Wonder Weapon near the Monolith.
These zombies are much more aggressive and run faster. Any additional teammates should be fighting off regular zombies and protect the player using the Wonder Weapon. Once enough zombies go down, a cutscene will trigger.
Drink flogger juice, get mirror pieces
Return to the Flogger Courtyard and find the broken fountain. This is the Flogger trap. Killing zombies near the trap will engorge the fountain with what is known as “Flogger Juice.” You will then drink from the fountain to acquire a special vision.
Using the powers from the vision, you will have to look for two mirror pieces scattered around the map. These are very easy to spot, as they float in the area with a blue glow. Red orbs are also spread around the map, and finding one of these will help lead you to the mirror pieces.
You will need to finish this objective quickly. If you run out of time for some reason, all steps can be repeated as necessary.
Prep yourself with as many perks as you can afford before proceeding with the next part. We recommend packing the Wonder Weapon at least once.
Charge the podium, shoot orbs
With the two mirror pieces in hand, return to the Dig Site. You will find a podium in the center. Place your mirror fragments on it. Glowing orbs will appear for each player in the party once you interact with the podium.
Interact with each of the orbs simultaneously, and they will start flying away. Every player needs to shoot their orb down three times. After each shot, the orb will move. Rinse and repeat the process until complete.
Defeat Saraxis
Use the podium once more to trigger a boss fight with Saraxis. The fight is in three phases, but the steps are mostly the same for each, with the key difference being the difficulty of the zombies that spawn.
Phase One
The player wielding the Wunderwaffe DG-2 Wonder Weapon will need to start killing blue mist-covered Zombies near the podium.
Soon you will greet a massive blue bubble. The boss needs to be fought inside of this area. Keeping shooting her until she becomes immune.
Phase Two
The player wielding the Wunderwaffe DG-2 Wonder Weapon will need to start killing blue mist-covered Boom Schreiers near the podium.
Once again, you will greet the massive blue bubble. The boss needs to be fought inside of this area. Keeping shooting her until she becomes immune.
Phase Three
The player wielding the Wunderwaffe DG-2 Wonder Weapon will need to start killing blue mist-covered Zombies wielding giant mini-guns near the podium.
For the last time, you will greet the massive blue bubble. The boss needs to be fought inside of this area. Keeping shooting her until she finally goes down. This will complete the easter egg, which triggers a cutscene and rewards you with a calling card.
