The next game in the incredible Batman: Arkham series is going to be exclusive to VR, specifically Meta Quest 3. This franchise has not seen a new core entry since Arkham Knight (2015). Batman: Arkham Shadow is the name of the latest title, and it is being developed by Camouflaj and Oculus Studios, known for their work on Iron Man VR.
Batman: Arkham Shadow is set to release later in 2024, as announced by Meta. The company did not share many details about the game itself but did deliver a short trailer featuring Batman’s POV as he swoops over the grimy streets of Gotham.
The trailer suggests much of the gameplay will focus on the gliding traversal that made Batman: Arkham City so much fun. Meta has also yet to reveal who will be voicing Batman. The original voice, Kevin Conroy, passed away in 2022, but not before he had a chance to reprise the role in Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League.
Arkham: Shadow is now the second game in the series to receive VR treatment. The first one, Batman: Arkham VR, was released in 2016 for PSVR by Rocksteady Studios before porting it to additional headsets.
Batman: Arkham Shadow will release exclusively on Meta Quest 3, with Meta noting that fans can expect more details to be revealed during the Summer Game Fest showcase on June 7.
