In this guide, you will learn how to gain approval from Lae’zel as well as learn what it takes to romance her in Baldur’s Gate 3.
To romance any character in the game, the player has to increase that character’s Approval of them. This is influenced by dialogue choices in conversations in addition to their actions.
Each Companion in BG3 has various likes and dislikes. What may work for one Companion will not necessarily work for another. Therefore, the player needs to adjust their actions depending on whose Approval they want to raise.
Lae’zel Approval Guide
To increase Lae’zel’s Approval, the player must understand the character’s likes and dislikes. Here is a general list of what Lae’zel likes and dislikes when it comes to actions and conversations.
Approval Up
- Pick straightforward, loud, and direct actions.
- Subjugate others, including insults and violence.
- Reject sidequests.
- Martial prowess, unwavering duty, and self-sacrifice.
- Show sentiment to the Githyanki society.
- Go against what Shadowheart says and wants, instead opting to follow Lae’zel.
Approval Down
- Go against what Lae’zel says and wants, instead opting to follow Shadowheart.
- Accepting and doing sidequests.
- Allying with the weak.
- Anti-sentiment towards the Githyanki society.
- Resorting to non-violence and non-intimidation for negotiation.
To ensure the Approval rating for Lae’zel does not lower at any time, the player can choose to leave Lae’zel in camp. This allows the player to pursue dialogue options, quests, or actions that may potentially go against the character’s wishes without penalty.
Lae’zel Romance Guide
Act 1
To romance Lae’zel during Act 1, the player will need to reach a certain Approval level. Afterward, they must make progress in the main storyline. This includes:
- Druid’s Grove (choosing to rescue Halsin and the refugees).
- Take a long rest at the campsite, then enjoy a celebration with the refugees.
Upon initiating a conversation with Lae’zel once these events finish, they will need to pick the following dialogue options:
- Are you… asking for sex?
- Yes. I will share my bed with you tonight.
Next, the player must return to their bedroll for a chance to sleep with Lae’zel. This leads to a cutscene of the player sharing a romantic evening with her. However, there are two different scenes, and as long as the player doesn’t leave, it should play out correctly.
As an alternative, the player can also receive a romantic night with Lae’zel by increasing her Approval ahead of the celebration. Once you increase your approval, the player can talk to her by selecting the following dialogue choice:
- Is it me, or have you been looking at me differently?
Selecting the options that show interest in her leads to the same scene.
Act 2
Before continuing the romance with Lae’zel in Act 2, it’s important to progress the storyline. This includes:
- Companion Quest in the Githyanki Creche (side with Voss when he offers help).
The romance scene in Act 2 with Lae’zel can trigger upon going to sleep. Lae’zel will tell the player that she can’t stop thinking about them romantically.
Next, the player can select an option other than telling Lae’zel that they wish to sleep with them or telling them to leave. Lae’zel then challenges the player to a duel, which they have to accept.
Winning the duel is optional, and different dialogue choices appear depending on whether the player defeats her or not, but the result is the same. Lae’zel will tell the player she belongs to them, then you have to select the following options:
- Pull her close. Press her lips against hers/I am yours.
This results in an intimate kiss between Lae’zel and the player. Alternatively, they can pick other options, including:
- This is the mighty Lae’zel? What an embarrassment. You’ve gone soft.
- Take her
This results in a more passionate kiss, but regardless, the player will succeed in romancing Lae’zel.
Act 3
After completing the companion quest in Act 2, the player must acquire the Orphic Hammer from Raphael, either by stealing it or accepting his deal. Then, the player must ensure that Lae’zel is not kidnapped. If she is, the player has to rescue her from Orin.
Once the player has the Orphic Hammer, Vlaakith visits during the night after the player makes it to the Lower City. Then, she offers Lae’zel the chance to ascend. The player must pick the following dialogue option:
- Stand your ground. Don’t fall for Vlaakith’s lies.
After Vlaakith leaves, the player must speak to Lae’zel and choose one of the following options:
- I prefer heat. Ravage me, show me no mercy/Yes. I’ve longed for a tender touch
After a long rest, Lae’zel wakes the player up in the morning. The player can choose any option for the initial prompt, but must pick the following to continue the romance:
- Of course. I could never resist you/All right, this better be good
Next, she takes the player to watch the sunrise, holding hands and sharing an intimate moment.
