Baldur’s Gate 3 – Does It Have Split Screen Co-Op?

baldur's gate 3 does it have split screen co op

In this guide, you will learn how split screen and co-op works while playing Baldur’s Gate 3.

Is There A Split-Screen Co-Op in Baldur’s Gate 3

Yes, Baldur’s Gate 3 supports split screen couch co-op. However, it is only limited to two players at a time. The remaining two members of your party will include your companions.

Local co-op only works if you have two controllers. So, you can’t play on a keyboard and mouse while your friend uses a controller. Both players will need two different controllers to enjoy couch co-op with their friends. As of now, BG3’s split-screen co-op feature is only available on PC & PS5 platforms.

How to Play Split-Screen Co-Op in Baldur’s Gate 3

To enable split-screen co-op in Baldur’s Gate 3, simply connect two controllers at the same time. So, don’t go around looking for this mode in the game menu. It can be activated anytime by simply connecting two controllers and then pressing the button to initiate local co-op.

You can team up with your friend even when you’re in the middle of the playthrough. Moreover, you can also complete the entire game while you’re in split-screen co-op mode.

At times, the split-screen feature can put unnecessary pressure on your PC and might cause BG3 to face lags, freezes, crashes & so on. So, make sure your PC or console can handle these high demands.

While online multiplayer supports up to four players at once, split-screen local co-op only allows two. Moreover, you and your friend will also need to be on the same device. The only frustrating part about this is that both players will need two controllers.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a role-playing game developed by Larion Studios and released in 2023 for PC, macOS, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
