Adjust the Field of View By default in Elden Ring, your field of view is locked to 48, which is quite low for a third-person game. The Adjust the Field of View mod allows you to unlock the FOV, giving you several new options to choose from. The max FOV you can go up to 100, which allows you to see plenty more of your surroundings. However, this also distorts your screen, so you might want to stick to 60-80 for the most optimal experience. Item and Enemy Randomizer One of the best ways to spice up Elden Ring after beating it once or twice is with the Item and Enemy Randomizer mod. This randomizes every element of the game, from shop items to boss fights to random enemy encounters. Items you find in chests or as drops from bosses are also randomized, which can make your run much easier or more difficult. You never know what you're going to get with the mod, as a random encounter with an enemy could pit you against Malenia or one of the tougher bosses in the game. When you're ready to get back into the action, the same button resumes the game from where you last stopped. Performance Boost For anyone who's struggling to reach 60 frames per second or simply wants a slight jump in FPS, the Performance Boost mod can get you where you want to go. The mod does wonders for your in-game performance, eliminating many elements that cause your performance to dip. This includes removing shadows, volumetric effects, grass, rain, and more. While your game won't look as pretty, you should see a large jump in performance simply by downloading the mod. Posture Bar There are few better quality-of-life mods than the Posture Bar. It can be extremely frustrating to try and guess when an enemy is going to become staggered, so this mod adds a yellow bar above/beneath every enemy's health bar to tell you what their current posture is. If the yellow bar is completely full, then they're at full posture and not close to being staggered. Once the yellow bar runs out, the enemy becomes staggered and you can go in for the kill with a lethal blow. Prepare to Die On the other hand, if you're someone who didn't think the base gameplay in Elden Ring was hard enough, then the Prepare to Die mod is what you want to download. Prepare to Die does the exact opposite of the Easy Mode mod, making it so enemies deal more damage, have more health, are more difficult to stagger, etc. For you to even attempt this mod, you need to ensure you're taking advantage of everything the game has to offer. Use every item you can get your hands on, study opponents meticulously, and implement different strategies than you would normally use in the base game. If you can beat Prepare to Die, you're a true Elden Lord. Quest Log The base game of Elden Ring offers very little in the way of quest information. Unless you are actively writing down quest steps, it's difficult to remember what step of a quest you're on or even where to go next. The mod allows you to see your progress in each quest and even gives you some backstory to the quests themselves. Now, you don't have to worry about what quests you've started and keeping up with the details of each one. This mod makes it so you and up to five other players can join the same world in Elden Ring and play through the opening tutorial to the final boss as a group. Of course, since Elden Ring is an open-world game, you and your party don't have to stick together. Players can go off in their own direction and experience the game on their own, with Torrent even being available for all five players at the same time. However, when one player rests at a Site of Grace, the entire world resets for all players, so it can get confusing if players are too far away from each other. Regardless, though, this is a terrific way to play Elden Ring with friends. Syyyke's Level For Free Elden Ring Edition This is an extremely straightforward mod. Syyyke's Level For Free Elden Ring Edition simply removes every cost associated with leveling up your character. This means you don't have to spend any runes to level up, and you can make your character as strong as you want without any restrictions. While you might not want to use this mod for a first playthrough of Elden Ring, it's essentially a cheat mod that makes the game far easier. Transmogrify Armor Have you ever sat at the inventory screen in Elden Ring trying to decide between one armor's stats and another's appearance? While the best move is always to equip armor with better stats, you can easily grow attached to the way certain armor looks in-game. Well, with the Transmogrify Armor mod, you no longer have to make those tough decisions. This mod allows you to change the look of any armor in Elden Ring to the appearance of any other piece of armor in the entire game. Essentially, you now have the best of both worlds; you can equip the armor with better stats while having it look the armor you want. You can "Transmogrify" your armor whenever you rest at a Site of Grace in Elden Ring. Unlock the Framerate First up on the list is a mod that every PC player needs to download. Unlock the Framerate is a mod that does exactly what it says. It uncaps your frames per second from 60 to whatever your PC can put out. If you have a monster PC with all the latest hardware, then you can achieve upwards of 100-200fps and finally see that realized in Elden Ring. Even if you think you won't get much higher than 60fps, it's still worth it to download the mod and see how many additional frames you get. It's possible an extra 10 or 20 frames could be the difference between living and dying to a boss in the Lands Between.
